Welcome to Syncard ("the Service"). By registering for, accessing or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms") and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

The Service is a digital business card and business-card scanning service. Its features include, but are not limited to: capturing or uploading business cards for optical character recognition (OCR), creating and managing your digital cards (Personas), exchanging cards with others, contact management and search, and related communication features. We may add, change or discontinue individual features at any time.

2. Your account

  • You must register with true and accurate information and keep it up to date. You may sign in using a third-party account such as Google or LINE.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your account and sign-in credentials, and for all activity carried out through your account.
  • If you discover any unauthorised use, notify us immediately.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, or where necessary to protect the security of the Service and the interests of other users.

3. Multiple Personas and our non-disclosure commitment

  • At the data layer, the Service supports a single user creating multiple Personas (digital cards), so that you can present different identities in different contexts.
  • We commit that we will not disclose the link between different Personas belonging to the same user. A publicly visible card view contains no user identifier, email address, plan, or any cross-Persona mapping; this non-disclosure is enforced at the level of system design and the data contract.
  • If we later introduce a feature that explicitly links multiple Personas (a "verified network", for example), that linking will be opt-in, and we will update these Terms and the related documentation before it is enabled.

4. Payment, subscriptions and refunds

  • Paid features: some features of the Service require a paid subscription or the purchase of credits or quota. Prices, plan contents and billing cycles are those shown in the Service at the time of purchase.
  • Payment processing: online payments are handled by third-party payment providers (such as LINE Pay) or by platform stores (such as the Apple App Store). We do not handle or store your full credit card number or financial account number.
  • Automatic renewal: subscription plans may renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel beforehand as instructed. After cancelling, you can normally continue to use the plan until the current period ends.
  • Price changes: we may change prices or plans; changes take effect from your next billing cycle after reasonable advance notice.

4.1 Refunds

How a refund is handled depends on the channel through which you paid. Please note this carefully:

  • Purchases completed through a platform store (such as the Apple App Store): that transaction is collected from you by the platform store, not by us. Therefore:
    • Refunds are handled entirely under that platform's own refund policy, and are reviewed and decided by that platform.
    • We cannot issue the refund on your behalf, and we have no power to reverse or override the platform's refund decision. You must apply for the refund directly with the platform.
    • Cancelling the subscription must likewise be done with that platform; deleting your account or stopping use within the Service does not automatically end that platform's subscription or stop the charges.
  • Payments not made through a platform store, i.e. collected by us via a third-party payment provider: except where required by the laws of the Republic of China, or where we have announced a separate refund policy, completed payments are in principle non-refundable. Where consumer-protection legislation requires a refund, we handle it in accordance with that legislation.

Whichever the channel, nothing in this section affects the rights you have under mandatory provisions of the laws of the Republic of China.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to do the following, and not to help or allow others to do them:

  • Upload or process personal data or content that you have no lawful right to collect or use.
  • Infringe the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of others.
  • Upload malicious code, attempt unauthorised access, or interfere with or damage the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Scrape at scale by automated means, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the Service's technical limits and security mechanisms.
  • Use the Service for harassment, fraud, spam or any unlawful purpose.
  • Misuse the card data of others that you have scanned or stored, beyond what is reasonably expected in business dealings.

We may remove content that breaches the above, and may restrict or terminate accounts that do so.

6. Your content and the licence you grant

  • You retain your rights in the content you upload or create (card images, Persona data and so on).
  • To the extent necessary to provide, operate and improve the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, process and display that content within the scope of providing the Service — for example sending an image to a processor for recognition, or presenting your card when you choose to share it. This licence terminates after you delete the content or your account, once the necessary scope above and the backup cycle have run out.
  • Exception for delivered content: for card content you have delivered to other users through a card exchange, or through someone collecting it from a page you made public, the licence above does not terminate when you delete that content or your account. It remains in effect for as long as the content still has a holder — otherwise we could not keep and display, for that holder, the card they have already received. Once the last holder removes that card, the licence terminates as described in the preceding paragraph. For the scope of delivery and the boundary of the rights you can exercise, see Privacy Policy sections 1.1, 5 and 7.1.
  • You represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights and lawful basis for the content you provide.

7. Third-party services

The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services (identity providers, payment providers, cloud and AI providers, for example). Those services are provided by third parties under their own terms, and we are not responsible for their conduct or content. When you use them, you must follow their terms.

8. Disclaimers

  • The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty, express or implied, as to the Service's fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, freedom from errors, or the complete accuracy of recognition results.
  • Card recognition (OCR / AI) results may contain errors. You should check important information for accuracy yourself before relying on it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Where the law does not permit a full exclusion, our cumulative liability is limited to the extent the law provides.

10. Changes to and termination of the Service

  • We may modify, suspend or terminate all or part of the Service at any time.
  • You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law among them — continue in effect after termination.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms. We will notify you of material changes within the Service or by other appropriate means. If you continue to use the Service after the effective date of a change, you are taken to have accepted the revised Terms.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). For disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, and except where mandatory law provides otherwise, the parties agree that a court of competent jurisdiction in the Republic of China shall be the court of first instance.
